F@H 6.10Beta3-March 11

Post by stev »

Since I've rebuilt the lappy, I tried to run the standard F@H GUI 5.03 version on VISTA. Well, it kept bombing out during the install when the first screen shows up. :x This never happened with XP.

So, out of grins, I poked around the Stanford Folding site and found the latest BETA version. It actually works with VISTA. :) Wow, something that works with VISTA is shocking.

There are a few neat things added to this BETA version that shows progress with the upcoming software and enhancements. 8)

Currently, there is no available displaying of the folding screen at this time. So, it's a GUI without graphics; basically, just a lower tray icon that one would right click to set options and monitor the progress.

There is now a PASSKEY option available for the user ID and team. This keeps others from using your ID for the team if a person wanted to know how much they have truly put forth in number crunching.

Other enhancements are there too.

passkey has been around for at least 3 months now, its mainly was mainly on every client except for Windows SMP. Personally its an annoyance IMO, but I can see the reasoning. Why not just a password and not this friggin long hodgepodge of letters and numbers
