ok, so sooner or later down the line, im probably going to get an E8400 for my rig in my sig. Now, instead of getting rid of that nice little q6600, what i wanted to do was by a cheapo mobo (im pretty set on the gigabyte p35 ds3l) and sticking my quad in it and have it headless folding away somewhere. Now i have a few questions:
whats a good cheap air cooler for this thing? it should be able to handle some ocing to
whats a good cheap case?
do i need to have a graphics card in it to run once i install everything? so once i go off with the head can i take out the graphics card to?
does it need to have a harddisk?
how many watts will it need for psu?
how can i check on it to make sure all is well in terms of folding?
this is what i have in mind so far to buy

I had this exact setup just a couple of weeks ago. I would look at a 1-2GB USB flash drive, an Earthwatts 380w PSU, and this CPU cooler..

With the right work units my E8400 diskless folding at 4GHz pulls 3200ppd according to FAHMON.

Question: If you're only using a machine to fold, then why not just use linux? or am I misunderstanding what you guys are trying to do... :-k
