GPU2 PPD increase

Post by dicecca112 »

GPU2 PPD increase

With new revisions to the GPU2 core code, the GPU2 code is doing more science per ever in the same amount of time. In the spirit of having the points equate to how much science is being done, we are going to increase the PPD of the GPU2 benchmark machine (ATI 3850 board -- see the FAQ for details) to 1500 PPD. We will revalue the most recent WU's (472X) and all future WU's will use this new PPD for benchmarking.

Doubt my 8400gs can do well in GPU2, but this could help users that can run SMP, but can run GPU.

hmm four cores-3k so 3/4=.75X3=2250+id say 2k for my 8800gt(comparing to 3850)=3.25k ppd if i folded cores and ran gpu. <--seem right to you?

Math seems good to me. Only difference would be that 8800gt I think is a little better that 3850. So you might if you tweak and OC enough, 3.5-4k ppd.
