my SMP client keeps restarting its units, earlier today it was at 86%, then i closed it, and when i just opened it back up, it was at 0% of the same unit

i exited by right clicking the menu bar, and clicking close, like i do for text-only consoles, but apparently that is wrong?

Are you using the new SMP client or are you using the old version? I noticed that you have shut down SMP client more than a couple of times and restarted. If it were me I would uninstal the program and all log files and reboot. Then install the program again.

when I was running SMP on my rig, it was VERY sensitive to shut downs and restarts, often ending in lost units.

As SMP is CPU dependent, if you are overclocking, perhaps back it down a bit until you can get it stable and then easy back up to a happy point for the client. Sorry I can't help more at this point, but SMP is a project for this weekend, so I'll note any irregularities I have and let you know.

To exit SMP console properly, you need to hit Ctrl + C first, then wait for few minutes so result can be written back into files. That way, you can avoid losing WU.

To check if SMP processes are stopped completely, you can use TASK MANAGER - Processes tab.

ok, thats basically all i needed to know if it's accurate, but the deadline i gonna pass before it finishes, so i'm just running two text consoles, then once they're done(or after the deadline for the SMP WU) i'll run SMP again

What I said above is only used to help you exit SMP client properly, clean and safely. Of course, when you re-launch SMP client, it WILL continue working on its current WU.

If you want to run SMP client in background (as service), you can follow the link that vbironchef posted above.
