Since I don't have an 8xxx+ nVidia card in this new family machine, I've installed the SMP client (v6.22) and it's doing a great job... stressing only one core. o.O
I've already ran Prime95 for a few hours with a mild OC to 2.8Ghz, and I know both cores are good to go.

What do I have to do to get the most out of this chip with SMP?

Run the SMP Affinity setter. Overclock it to past 3.2Ghz. Mine is at 3.7Ghz.

How long is your computer on for? I'd like to run SMP, but can't since it's recommend that the computer be on at least 10 hours a day for effective SMP folding.

It's staying sub-3Ghz until i get a new HSF on it. These little ones are dinky. Me NO likey. Going to swap it out for the stock Intel fan that came with my E6750, bout 2-3 times the size, and kept my E6750 much cooler than the smaller one is keeping this one.

Uninstalled the Deino client, working on setting up the MPICH one at the moment.

MPICH is easier to install. Just watch your temps. It will use 100% of both your cores. Don't forget to create a shortcut. Makes it a lot easier to start up after you turn the program off.

Been trying to help him out through AIM and I'm completely stumped...I walked him through setting up shortcuts (one with -configonly flag one with -smp ) and the config went fine. He errors out when trying to run though. Only thing I can think is that it might have something to do with him installing on XP 32bit or with him previously trying to install deino...either that or a PEBKAC

i get that same error, so i just run the SMP program, but from the original program, not the shortcut and fold with text-only console on the other core, all im getting is amber cores anyway

Try to delete all temp. files and reboot. Start over, Follow instructions, don't miss a step or it will not work. Copy and paste, makes it easier. Make sure you set the right amount of cores for your rig.

I never saw ANY option as to how many cores o.o
As you can see, it shows 2... ugh. On the not-so-terrible side of things, all my completed WU's aren't showing up on EOC, so at least I'm not pulling my hair out over 2 machines not sending their work in.
Going to delete all that stuff again and start over. What a pain!

This just blows though. I fold 24/7, FAHmon says I'm putting out ~6K PPD, and I see 2K on EOC.

back to the SMP question, as i also had(please accept license agreement), i deleted all the files i could, then reinstalled using this guide, now it goes good
