Holding Off Upcoming Teams

We need to hold off a few upcoming teams over the next few months and a number of them are sites in the review industry, so I really don't want them passing us up.
Threat #1 - Taiwan Team - Gain Daily = 288,044 points
Threat #2 - Bjorn3D.Com - Gain Daily = 51,907 points
Threat #3 - The Longevity Meme - Gain Daily = 43,014 points
Threat #4 - AMD Zone - Gain Daily = 19,758 points
Sites like AMD Zone have been
following our news posts about the $37 GeForce 9600 GSO and looks like they ordered 4 of them in as a result (Why they are gaining 20,000 points a day on us) Let's see if we can round up some friends to come fold with us. If you get anyone new folding be sure to let us know.
I just gave my brother one of my 8800 GT's so he's folding again (wasn't for the past two months). My FedEx driver bought one of the $37 GeForce 9600 GSO's and has that running, I loaned bwall on the forums my GeForce 9800 GX2 and he got that folding on friday. notice the nice little spike bwall had on 10/4/08 from running th 9800 GX2 -
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... =&u=196683... Trying to get everyone around me folding!

hmm, maybe you could just block their ip's

or maybe make the deals section kind of like the country club section, so only members can read. once i get my rig stable and the parts from newegg, ill be putting out 15k ppd, so that should help hold them off

I've got my parts ordered for another rig, and should have it up and folding by next weekend. It will be folding on two of those 9600 GSO cards. I tried to recruit a buddy (Sean71574) but I don't know how into it he will get. He ran a few WUs and hasn't done anything since.

If you look at Taiwan Team... they had some REALLY big hitters join in the last week... 224 people on the new users list. Guys that went from 0 ppd to 36k ppd. I'm not sure what's up with that, but we'll have to admit there are some teams (obviously Taiwan) that we won't be able to defend against.
As I stated in another post, (and excuse the sports analogies) as long as we continue to get our players healthy (X down a rig, me down a rig, martini still building up the points on his main rig, Goku going again), strengthen the players we have (new core systems will help that a good bit), draft the right players (grendel, little tea pot, peskylittlebum, and the others that have kicked in for the Team), and continue to "run our race" (friendly in team rivalry's that gain points Dan vs Matt, Me vs Dark, BWall vs the world), I think we'll be ok and continue to take down plenty of teams ahead of us.

As soon as I get my PS3 (probably next week) I'll get that folding too.

im trying to get my E7200 folding with SMP, but it is currently two text-only clients since i havnt got SMP running on it(the "you must agree to the license agreement...") and i would like to get SMP running over break, as it would be 24hours a day for like 6 days(currently this is my gaming rig and internet source, as wireless sux in my room, and only one computer can be registered through my Ethernet)
not to mention all i'm getting is 47/84/119 pt Amber core WU's

Can you throw a switch or router on the end of the line? A router will only use the single IP coming in and then DHCP the connection to as many devices as you need? That's a trick we used at car shows back when the hotel charged for internet connections. My room paid for it and became the hub, then we ran lines from the router out the window to the other rooms and viola! Internet for all.

If I had the money I'd pick up a new GPU folder for my HTPC setup, its folding but with the standard client.

The whole world?? Ack! Let me get my motherboard replaced first!

Well Dan was too big of a puss to fight me so.
This Diskless VM crap sucks, I've lost more WUs. This week I'm gonna get a stripped down Server x64 Ubuntu VM, and port it back to my work farm, and actually get my Home Laptop back again. I should be doing 5k easy, but I'm not

Its sad, but I havent messed with my water cooling kit yet because it will take one of my systems down and I dont wanna have us lose those points..lol
Might only be a couple hours, but if i run into problems, it could be a bit longer
Mike
I might install it on the linux system in the bedroom just to see how quiet it really is compared to the fans. I was gonna try it on the dual core with the GSO in it, but being a dual slot cooler and running low 60's for temps, I would hate to mess it up

yeah, I took a hit yesterday because the gamer was down most of the day. Took it down to get some cleaning done, and it took a lot longer than I expected as well.
Although, I did get an email that my Asus RMA board has shipped on it's way home. Should be able to get it running fairly quickly when it gets back and put the 9-10k ppd back on the board.

well, i got both my E7200 @ 3.315GHz and my Lappy Centrino @ 2.0 chomping on nothing but 1920 pt WUs in fully functional SMP finally(had to set the stupid "use scientific cores" to off(amber=scientific) or whatever it was called to stop getting 84pt WUs)

so speaking of holding off other teams. Whats the good word on the extra GPU, not part of one of the four bare bones systems?

any way to stop getting these 84-point ones in the graphical single-CPU client?

Parts came in for the new folder (errr I mean the wife's new rig

) and I'm just waiting for the case to arrive (tomorrow). Should have it up and running this weekend with two of those 9600 GSOs.

NICE! My wife's rig is holding it down right at 4900ppd with an Asus 9600GSO TOP. I need to get serious with the overclock and get it over 5k.
