2nd friend's rig came online today. I'm currently working on getting my main PC back up and running. I have my 8800gtx back from RMA. I have a problem with it though. Whenever I try to fold on it, it starts making a high pitched whine. It doesn't make the noise when I play bf2142, though.

An actual high pitched whine (without any speakers or headphones on?)
I notice a high pitched whine when i'm folding and listening to music through headphones, but its not a physical sound but rather a through-my-headphones one.

A friend has two 8800GTX'es and they both do that.

It's normal whatever it is.

Both my 8800GTX's and 8800GT's do the same thing. I've read on several boards that it's a normal occurrence and isn't harmful to the cards. Though, I personally have a sensitivity to high pitch noises and it's harmful to my head. My new headset seems to block out the frequency though so I'm learning to cope with it.

My 8800GTX does it also, sometimes I can block it out other times not.
It can be very annoying! That's the sacrifice we have to pay to fold for the best team out there!
