A friend of mine, has a no cd crack for every game he owns, he bought farcry 2 the day it came out and just got the crack this is what came with it in the instructions.
2. (Optional, utilizes spare CPU cycles***)
NOTE: Please don't do this more than once (If mentioned in other cracks)
a. Run FAH.exe.
b. Enter the following:
Username: Any username you like
Team number: 149135
Launch Automatically... Yes
c. Then, close the window.
Should this be allowed?

Um NoCD cracks aren't technically legal anyway so it doesn't really surprise me...though that is something Stanford should know about for sure

Most EULA's will tell you that bypassing any of the games built in security is illegal. You don't own the game, only the rights to play it.

That needs to be reported... That team is brand new and just started folding on 10-9-2008 and is known as Team FTL.
They have 1,098 active users and are turning in 150,000 points per day.

I guess someone needs to make a post about this at the F@H forums. Anyone got the time?

I can't get onto your thread, it's telling me I don't have permission.
Are you some kind of mod and is that some kind of special forum?
(Or is the forum just broke)

Odd, I was able to read it last night shortly after he posted over there. Now I am getting 'not authorized' as well.

Absolutely not. I contacted Pande Group about this as soon as I saw it. They may contact you for more info about the file details to help track down the source, and then they will take the appropriate correct action.
I also moved your post from public view as not to give anyone else any dumb ideas about repeating this offense.
And be sure "your friend" follows safe computing practices. ;)

no contact from Vijay to me. Looks like it was before hand, I suspect that this teams points will drop dramatically

More like the teaming being disbanded. I wouldn't be surprise if the original person who came up with this idea created the team and everything.

I guess this really makes a statement to just how many people pirate a game. The team is now on our threat list, pumping out nearly 400k points yesterday and on pace to about the same today.
It looks as though they have lost 986 people (either through Stanford or owners realize something was running on their computer) but 4000+ have recently joined.

Either some of the users are really stupid, or they were trying to be clever, but they have actually put their username as "Any username you like" >_<
I hope this team gets dis-abandoned pretty soon, it's not good for the project when all of these users realise something is eating up their CPU.
