DaIceMan udpate...

Post by DaIceMan »

update 1, core system (aka PACE palit, AMD, Corsair, ECS); I'm an idiot, and the system still isn't built. Went to build it last week, realized my power supply I planned to use was a 20 pin, not 24 as the ECS motherboard requires. no one local carries the 20 to 24 pin adapter, so I ordered the new power supply (OCZ stealthXstream 500) and set aside time this morning to "get er done". I didn't. Got everything out, realized the cooler I planned to use (tuniq tower 120) didn't have a bracket for the AM2, only for K8, which doesn't work. Gonna try to borrow a cooler from a buddy tomorrow, and if it works, the system will be up and running tomorrow night before I sleep. if not, I'll order a new one tomorrow that will be here on Wednesday.

next, server issues. Got the motherboard back from RMA. ASUS turnaround time was pretty quick, so I had the system up and going. Ran into COUNTLESS lost hours of Folding due to (mainly) AVG crash issues. For good measure, i reinstalled windows today, and switched to Avast! thanks to the recommendation of many of you here at LR. Got the 2 GPUs rocking again, and everything so far ( an hour or so) seems to be stable.

Current productivity:

gamer, 5814ppd
wife's, 5078ppd
srvr1, 5409ppd
srvr2, 5409ppd
daily, 4898ppd

total current productivity, 26608ppd. It's usually sitting around 26.5-27k ppd, so hopefully with the server crashes sorted, I can start to reap some of those points I've been losing every day and start adding a little more to the daily output. Certainly once I get the PACE up and running, I should be adding another 5k or so a day bringing my addition to Team 38296 to around 32,000 ppd.

What's this folding file you're talking bout? Is it the one where you made your own VMware which is made solely for folding? If it is, it won't work on my E7200 right since it doesn't support VT?

@DaIce. So you're going from like 20k a day to 27k a day? Those are some really nice setups that you got there. Glad to hear that your server rig is fixed.

yeah, meant to say that. GPU will get me 5k or so. Gonna look into SMP for both the quads when time allows to try and pull another 4-5k ppd. Gotta do something to keep wickedld9 from catching me before I have a chance to chase down DS. :)

you done any overclocking on the 9600GT yet? I just got mine Folding and was curious where you were if so. If not, I'll post up my overclock numbers in a couple days when I've had time to tweak on it a while.

Seems to be speedstepping when the screen saver kicks in. Are you experiencing that at all martini?
