Hey guys..I'm sure I'm gonna get the"wtf" look when you read this but I have to ask since I dont know..I just downloaded the cpu client of F@H for my i7..only 1 core looks to be used on it when running..I've tried reading up in the folding forums on here to learn to do multiple cores but im either missing something or I just don't understand period. I'm such a noob at folding. I mean i don't even know if there is a difference between the SMP or cpu client or even if they're the same(which i thought) lol..i just know i want to use more than 1 core on my cpu to fold and eventually use more than one gpu in my rig to fold.Like said, as far as folding, I know Jack and S^^t ...and Jack took a trip downtown somewhere

Simplest way to get your CPU fully utilized is to run the MPICH Windows native SMP client. i think its v6.23 right now, here's the link to the download http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegrou ... -mpich.exe

just follow the instructions here and you'll be good to go. http://forums.legitreviews.com/about16142.html
note, you'll need the .NET 2.0 framework installed first before you install the SMP client!

Thanks for the help :)..I got it running but still, I think I only see 1 core used..and i re-read over the installation threads to see if anything mentioned more than 1 core bu didnt see any..i havent seen my cpu jump higher than 20% yet so im assuming only 1 core is being used..is that possible or is this good as is?

It doesn't NEED it, but he could use it. Point is to get him folding fast and easy. Best setup as far as I can tell would be a native linux install with 2 linux SMP clients but that might be a bit of a hassle when he can just run the windows SMP client and crank out some work units that way

*Edit* Yes, if only 1 core is getting stressed, then try looking for the right flags for your shortcut

do you have the -smp and -mpich or -deino flag?

Folding@Home installation guides

Our very own SMP guide

Please run GPU folding as well. We desperately need some points lol.

uhhh not sure which flag..I just downloaded the one stopthekilling77 linked me to which in that case i would say the mpich one.. I was gonna ask what to do about flags if anything..I've had the gpu client going for months now(haven't seen the points? lol) with no biggie and just added my gtx285 into the mix too. so, I installed the mpich client..got it going..haven't finished configuring it..am i to use flags or no? the guide on the f@h site apparently recommends this flag "-smp -verbosity 9 " to make things easier but i haven't done anything yet

You need the -smp and -mpich flag otherwise you won't get the SMP units. Also, from my experience, you cannot shut down or restart your computer when using the MPICH client or you'll lose all of your folding work. I experienced this when using XP 32 bit, so it might be different in Vista 64 bit.

How's your GPU client configured? Is it folding for team 38296 and are you using the correct username? Points should have only up to 6 hour delay at most. My points can be 6 hours delayed for some reason while others don't experience that big of a delay. Actually, I just checked and you seem to be getting your GPU points. [urlhttp://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=356188]link[/url] Use the Stanford GPU folding guide so you can fold on your second GPU as well, assuming you got a 2nd GPU.

ok...do it use those flags on the additonal parameters portion of the config (for not having to do it each time)..yea my gpu has been folding for quite awhile..figured id get the cpu goin too..i appreciate the help thus far though..im sure im a bit of a annoyance but if i can fold for the team i might as well do it right lol

edit: how do i use both flags on one time or do i have to use one flag for each instance of fah? eithe ri did it wrong or it didn't like both flags at once.

i would try running one client in a linux VM just to see that gets more than one stressed
