dual gpu folding

so i haven't been folding for a while due to certain things but am trying to come back and i was thinking i have a 4870 right now and was thinking about adding a 280 or 260gtx in the same system and have both of them fold is that possible? also i am currently using windows xp x64

Its possible but it isn't worth the headaches trying to set it up.

I tried it once but I couldn't get it to work.

aw damn btw how much ppd does the 4870 usually give compared to its nvidia counterparts?

I dunno, but I can tell you that ATI GPUs fold A LOT slower than NVIDIA GPUs. According to the ATI 4850X2 review, it puts out about 4000 PPD. However, keep in mind that it has 2 4850. I'd assume one 4870 puts out around 3000 PPD, which is less than my 9600GT unless I'm doing those 511 point WU.

guess its time to start making the ps3 folding too, i think i shall start resuming on monday and ill try to get an nvidia card maybe in another system or maybe experiment with my rig well thanks for the input guys :)

I heard that PS3 folding is so slow to the point where it's not even worth risk overheating your PS3. You're better off folding on your 4870 than on the PS3.
