Issues with F@H with two graphic cards

Just thought I would like to make a thread that addresses issues that folders are dealing with when trying to use two cards.
I think one of the problems I am having is that when I try to fold with two cards that my power draw is to much. I also think that the F@H program has some buggs. Reason why I say this is because when I try to start the second card my rig freezes or is unstable. Not to mention that if I go to my device manager, I lose access to my second card. Might be a windows issue as well. I tried to uninstall and reinstall F@H many times and I still get the same result. I went to F@H for answers and I find a lot of the same issues. Some people are giving up folding. I think that is to bad. I wish F@H would understand that not everybody can put in the time and effort to help the cause. Just make it simple, so people don't give up.
Folders at Legit Reviews that have the same issues, please make your post here or at F@H. I can't seem to find any answers.

Not yet. Still waiting for the Ok. from Natasha.

I hope in the near future. I was thinking the same thing except when I went on F@H. It seems there are more issues than I can count. Glad that you are trying to help, and I am very happy that we are on the same team.

I hope this thread will wake the dead and not give up on folding.

I'm sure she knows it's for the greater good of the PC lol, and the world

..Honestly, when I had my "defective-as-defective-can-get-while still working" GTX280, it gave me a lot of issues that pointed elsewhere, when after I replaced most of the rig, I still had the issues. I got rid of the 280 and have never had any issues since, with either of my 285's. I hate implying an expensive video card is bad, but when I had one, now it seems like you and Apop do, I had to at least mention it. It could be a heat thing but I would imagine both card would have an issue if it was.

Why don't we let Apoptosis try different cards to see if one is bad. I really am getting tired of thinking it is a hardware issue. It could be, or something else. I just don't feel like changing parts just for the sake of it. I did return one 280 because I thought it was bad, maybe it was. To get two bad cards in a row, maybe, doubt it. I am folding with one card until I can figure out what the issue is.

sounds like an idea. Believe me..I know how ya feel on getting tired on figuring out what could be wrong. I do agree though, it could be anything. 2 bad cards in a row would be insanely suck. I was hoping mine was just a brand thing. lol

I think I have big news! Apoptosis, When you connect your Corsair HX 1000 power supply to your graphic cards, due it in this way. The 8 pin pci-e should be connected to each graphic card(the yellow cables!, one for each card!) Use the plug-in cables for your six pin! What a difference! Make sure your two G.C. have the same drivers. What I did is to install drivers on each card one a time. I think I fixed my issues! Please try this and let me know how it goes.
I have the latest drivers! Apoptosis, you have to try this! I think someone should make this a rule(sticky).

Apoptosis, have you fixed your issues with folding with 2 280gtx cards? I did notice that when I turn off my rig I have to reset my second monitor so it extends. Please keep us posted.

It seems that Apoptosis stopped folding for a couple weeks now.
I recall reading somewhere that you don't need to actually physically connect your monitor to the GPU. You can just get a pin or something and make the GPU believe that it's connected to a monitor by having the pin make contact with certain pins on the VGA/DVI connection.

I'm folding on 2 with only one monitor plugged in to one card.

geokilla, this is correct. I just noticed that to extend the desktop monitor, sometimes my rig doesn't remember the settings. I have to adjust the remote desktop monitor sometimes to run two graphic cards.

you can either do that or if you have an extra VGA/DVI/HDMI port on your monitor you can hook that up to the other gpu(granted it defeats the purpose of that pin method lol)

I'd like to know how to do that

extend the desktop monitor: Right click on desktop, go to properties, settings, check the box that says extend desktop, or something like that.
