Looks like my PPD is going to take a hit!

Post by camaroguy1998 »

I installed a 2nd TV Tuner card last week so I can record everything I want while I'm at work!
The big problem is the software that supports multiple tuners does not play well at all with the GPU F@H!
I've tried several suggestions with no success! If GPU Folding is working, the recording software wont!
So I'm going to shut down F@H while I'm at work and then start it back up when I get home but that leaves it with a 10+ hour gap where it wont be working. :(
So goes my PPD :toimonster:

I havent tried the F@H forums yet but have tried Hauppauge and their forums.
Hauppauge has turned it over to their engineering(so I've been told) to see what they come up with.

If they dont come up with something soon, I will probably try to upgrade an older computer to just run the GPU F@H.

Let me know if you are missing any hardware for a secondary rig as I might have some stuff here I can donate for folding.

That is really cool of you to do Nate. I wish I could keep mine going but my wife saw the electric bill this weekend. If only I was able to harness the sparks from her head I would be set for a year on power.

I just checked my draw at the wall on my rig. With 1 card folding I am pulling about 360 watts at the wall. That gives me about 8.4 kwh perday. 9.3 cents per kwh=78.12 cents per day x 30 days=$23.46 a month. Lless than she said but still a bit more than we can afford right now. All I can say is being unemployed really sucks!

Thanx Apop, I am exploring my options!
Here's what I have ATM.
I have the video card, HD, PSU,1G DDR2 800mhz memory and case. Although the HD is an old IDE, wish it was a SATA drive but I can live with that! All that(less memory) is currently running in an old SKT A system that was just basic internet and Internet Radio.
If you have a Mobo, cpu, hsf combo that could be donated that would definitely save me some money! :)

I have a 9600GSO(PCIe 16x) thats currently in another rig that has been converted to DVR/PVR
I can keep that rig running without the 9600GSO since it has onboard video I can use!
I bought the 9600GSO as a dedicated folder back when they were real popular for their folding capabilities.
I would definitely like to keep this card going, it does between 3k-4k PPD when folding 24/7.

I appreciate any consideration you give this, Thanx Apop!

My internet was down almost all day, so not all my WU's have been turned in yet!
Hopefully Charter can keep their stuff together!
I hope I dont regret my switch from DSL to Charter Cable internet!
