My F@H is Screwed

It's coming up with CoreStatus = 1 (1) when it enters the MD phase and then deletes the unit and then just gets stuck at the next MD.

I've tried rebooting. I've tried deleting all FAH work files etc. I've tried completely deleting ALL fah files, rebooting and then reinstalling only to get the same error on the next launch of the folding.

At this point, I don't know what else I can do. And I'm going home now. If I get chance to work on it tomorrow I'll have another bash, but I don't know what else I can do to it. So suggestions are needed...

Dan

Are you running Vista/win7? Try installing FAH at the root of the drive e.g. C:\FAH. Read an article on folding forums with someone having the same problem with Vista.

Running on OSX. And even in the default location it installs to it still does this :-/

Could you post the full log? Do you know what arguments you are using?

Dan clean out your work directory and delete the core file, queue file if there, and if that doesn't work, uninstall the client, clean out the directories and reinstall. Looks like some files have become corrupted.

I already tried that :(

Then deleted everything from the FAH directory.

And then deleted the preference pane and protien viewer from settings and apps.

Then rebooted and reinstalled it all.

Are there any mac preference files left hidden elsewhere?

i cant think of any solution, but the last resort guaranteed to work is install one text-only client for each core/thread, but thats if you run out time.

It's an 8 core mac pro so I'd really like to get SMP back up somehow. Will have to have a look round for secret preference files tomorrow. Failing that upgrade to snow leopard and hope that will help.

One upgrade to snow leopard later and it appears to be sorted.

Although I think what actually fixed it was deleting the folding stuff entirely and then letting InCrease (a third party OSX folding monitor thing) recreate the units via one of the system menus. I always forget that's there after it's 'just worked' for ages.

I think the problem was a corrupt mpiexec. Oh well, sorted now.

Out of curiosity, are you running the -bigadvmethods to get the bonus points on those huge WU?
