Re: ** Official 2009 F@H WAR Competition Thread **
Okay, so far 13 more people signed tonight. This is enough to make two more 6 person teams and then have one person be on a standby list for a 7th team or if someone breaks.
If you are on this list and don't have a ppd estimate please help me figure it out so I cam make the teams fair.
Standby List For The 5th and 6th Teams
Sovereign
Craigmcl - Radeon 4870 (maybe 3,000 ppd?)

did you use my Dual GPU installation thread? its a great guide if you use 7Sovereign wrote:Or not, getting UNSTABLE_MACHINE on both GPUs...WTF?
folding requires 100% stability, a slight overclock on the GPU can fubar it and only get UNSTABLE
the CPU is pretty independant of GPU folding(ie, irrelevant)

Did you clean out your Machine IDs? How about using the latest drivers? I'm not sure how dual GPU Folding works, so I can only give so much input.Sovereign wrote:I have two GPU directories (GPU1 and GPU2). They have different Machine IDs. One is pointed to GPU0, the other to GPU2 (for some reason GPU0 = 9800, GPU1 = 7900GTX, GPU2 = 9800). I've cleaned out all work units, queues etc. Are you suggesting overclocking my CPU is nerfing my GPU folding?Apoptosis wrote:try removing the overclock or if both are on the same system then make sure you setup the two F@H directories and shortcuts right.
You say that your GPU0 and GPU2 is a 9800. Do you have a 9800 GX2? Try removing your 7900GTX if you don't need it.

I don't think my SMP client is working...hmm. Need to figure it out. Well, I'll try setting it up again on the Athlon X4 and see how that goes.
Both GPU's should now be folding

I kinda need the 7900GTX for other monitors (I have 3)... I'm installing new drivers and starting from scratch.

Re: ** Official 2009 F@H WAR Competition Thread **
trying to get set up and running here but I have no clue how to figure ppd. I have a dual core at 3.0 and my GPU is an 8800GTS. I leave my machine on mostly all the time but only use it off and on from 4pm to midnight. I would like to get in this contest if its possible. Folding as Merlin on team 38296. Can I get the GPU up later after starting the contest? I don't know how to get it running now.

I would like to get in on this too if it's not too late, I just saw the post. My folding name is Billabong_69. Haven't folded in a while, so I'm not sure of my PPD. I have an Compaq laptop with an AMD Athalon Dual-core QL-64 2.1 GHz with 3 GB memory.

Is it against the rules to get all of my HighSchool's computers folding for my team?
Re: ** Official 2009 F@H WAR Competition Thread **
DO NOT FOLD ON MACHINES THAT ARE NOT YOURS WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION!!!!!TraceHagan wrote:Is it against the rules to get all of my HighSchool's computers folding for my team?
Doing so could not only get you in trouble, but also negatively impact the image of Folding. Folding uses extra electricity, generates heat, and in general puts a lot of stress on computers. I don't think it's against the rules of this competition, so to speak, as long as you have permission.
Also, per my problem--still getting UNSTABLE_MACHINE on the second GPU. NaNs and mdrun_gpu returned too. Backing off memory and shaders (it's not overclocked anyway, never was).

Irealize I would need to get permission from the IT guy. ANyway, it would only stick for a day, or before reboot unless the IT guy was in on it

Hmm, try removing the 7900GTX. I understand that you need the 3rd monitor, but sometimes keeping it simple makes things better.Sovereign wrote:DO NOT FOLD ON MACHINES THAT ARE NOT YOURS WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION!!!!!TraceHagan wrote:Is it against the rules to get all of my HighSchool's computers folding for my team?

Have you tried using -forcegpu G80 flag or something like that? I don't exactly remember how to setup 9800GX2 for folding, but once it's up, pretty much 10k PPD right there.
PPD can be monitored by using FahMon.

ot sure how to calc that.. guessing with my 4870 I'd be close to 3800, with my AMD 7750 BE no idea..Apoptosis wrote:Okay, so far 13 more people signed tonight. This is enough to make two more 6 person teams and then have one person be on a standby list for a 7th team or if someone breaks.

Re: ** Official 2009 F@H WAR Competition Thread **
The second GPU is just bad news. It EUE's/NaNs constantly. Even with shaders/memory decreased. Temps are not a problem, maybe 60C if that. Now the first one is saying "core from disk is invalid" and going to sleep. If I don't get this fixed in the next 15 minutes, count me out! So much for 9800GX2-fuele superfolding...
