Nate,

On the last day of competition (Page 1 says it goes until the 22nd, im assuming that's still the case)
Just wanted to say a big thank you to you, and everyone that helped, for creating an awesome kick-ass competition
that got everyone so involved in such a great scientific endeavor.

Despite and QQ and debating, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we are all apprieciative of all the hard work you put into creating this contest.

My plan was to make 500K in this contest....looks like I'm gonna come a little short...sigh... :( congrats to all who took part in the contest, I'ld say everyone did a great job. I can't speak for others...but I am staying here to fold, I hope others are gonna do the same.

Fold on people.

UNSTABE_MACHINE can be resultant from a lot of things:

CPU overclock not QUITE stable
RAM overclock not QUITE stable
GPU overclock not QUITE stable
GPU dying(my most recent reason)
another component dying etc.
driver issues

-so if you OC your CPU i'd install OCCT and let it run the small data test infinite(20 minutes is enough usually, infinite test doesnt have long 'monitoring' periods, it just goes right to ~99.9% utilization)
-if you OC your GPU install and fire up Furmark and run a stability test in fullscreen with NO AntiAliasing, if it errors change your clocks, or if its at stock and errors, try underclocking it, and if it still happens, RMA
-Try reinstalling the latest Display drivers

in general try to look around your system and swap parts out to test them, because UNSTABLE_MACHINE is not a good sign.

Billabong said he was away. He had left the computer folding, but I guess it stopped :-k Thats his story and he's sticking to it...I guess I believe him though...if I was in his position and knew there was a problem, I would have fixed it ASAP.

Side note...where do you live(edit: skip the were do you live thing...I opened my eyes) and how much do you get charged for a kilowatt...yikes...that seemed awfull high.

I just dug up our rates here...6.25cents/KWh. Anyone else know what they pay...curious to see what rates are in other places.
My wife keeps shutting the laptop down too, so I keep having to turn it back on to keep folding. I did just add folding to a computer at work, need to check that one too to make sure it is still folding. Trying to do my best, but my desktop is slow as hell and I have the console version installed, but it doesn't seem to be working right.

Good job everyone...can we keep the pace up for 7 more days and pass Tom's Hardware???? That would be a good little present for the nice folks here at LR. Not that you were trying to redeem yourself Vectrexer but you have in my oppinion, thanks for adding soo many points to LR's total. On Dec. 1st I had never folded at all and now I plan to stick with it, in between gaming of course.

Missouri must be cheap:

In winter (October through May) that charge is 6.12 cents per kWh for the first 750 kilowatthours and 4.12 cents per kWh for any usage over 750 kilowatthours.
