FeRal is right get over it. Nate and Dan and all did there best to try and get things far, they didn't know how every one was going to fold so suck it up.

Nate if every one keeps moaning put all the names in a hat and just draw them at the end of the contest that way no one can moan. I'm just glad I'm just doing it, my dad is walking around with a fibulator in his chest so it's more for him.

I agree, they tried to keep things fair but it didn't work. All the moaning :axe: is taking the fun out of the competition. Just fold!!

Apoptosis wrote:As for DragonCooler and spitter I might just remove them from the competition if things get too crazy.

DragonCooler already said he wasn't in it for the processor and Spitter would be given one of the 'extra' processors for his insane ppd production and then all the teams would have a fair chance again.

So, don't stop folding just because of Spitter... If I remove him from Team F and give him a processor for his efforts that puts team F at ~600k, which is where team D, team E and team C are at.

If I remove DragonCooler his team totals would also be 600k, so that means Team C, D, E, F and G would all be around the 600K mark.

Team B is doing strong since smack323 and knightrid and mad_goku are all increasing their ppd and recruiting friends from the looks of it.

team A is being driven by darkstar and god only knows what he is running now ;)
No moaning here! I was simply responding to Apop with a little feedback since he said he was thinking of some options. We have all tried to recruit help and some of us faired better than others..." all is fair in love and WAR" Kudos to those that have been able to rock the house with some serious folding for LR.

I can see this thread turning into a flame war. Let's try to avoid calling people out for voicing their opinions. Comments like, "life is not fair, get over it" and telling people to basically shut up isn't constructive in the least.

I absolutely agree.

Nobody isn't saying it's Nate or Dan's fault. Everyone feels slighted in some fashion or form and with good reason, everyone entered this competition thinking they all had a chance to win. When someone comes in a week into the competition and puts up 40-50x the PPD they SAID they would put up, people will get a little upset. This forum is a place to vent a little bit of that frustration. Telling people to shut up or get over it is not the right attitude and should be checked before posting.

I think everyone can agree that Nate did his best to make this as fair as possible and for that we are all grateful. Legit Reviews rocks and IMO is one of the best forum/communities out there and THE BEST review site out there.

Last I checked this was a friendly forum. :partyman:

Actually everybody does still have a chance to win... There are what 3-4 procs that are left over that go to random participants.

I was just trying to put a little perspective on things, not trying to flame. There's starving children in Africa for heavens sake and people are complaining about life not being fair in the "land of the free time" over a contest that you have a change at winning something just for participating in. Want to talk about unfair, why not go down to the Salvation Army on Christmas and serve some meals to people, I'm sure you will hear some real stories about how life is unfair, and maybe appreciate things a little more during this holiday season.

I could be wrong though, for all I know some of the people complaining about the unfairness could be in the same situation.

I have been laid off since April... sent out 75+ resumes and haven’t even gotten an interview. my folding numbers were down because I couldn’t justify the high electric bill. I appreciate LR for doing stuff like this.. I think its awesome to be able to still get my tech fix. not looking forward to my electric bill this month but hey its a WAR and as they say "all is fair in love and war".. my hats off to team F.. I know I sound bitter at times but its just cuz I am a greedy competitive person and want to win at everything.. good job to all the teams.. I think its pretty sweet the at least 3 or 4 teams of 6 people will put up over 1 million points during this WAR for LR..

heck yes. that's what I'm talking about. Let's see if we can get LR to break the top 80 teams in points by the time this is finished.

Well smack323 I feel for you, my brother has been laid off for almost a year now. Thankfully he had saved up a bunch of money prior to being laid off, but as you probably know, money burns real fast when it's not coming in. My father in law used to be an IT Manager for Kaiser Permanente and has been laid off for almost a year and a half, thankfully my mother in law has a good job for them to fall back on.

Keep you head up though man, this crap can't last forever.

I'll be open and honest with you guys...

I haven't read all 573 replies in this thread.

This F@H war is for fun. It was random and a PITA to setup. Originally, the teams that Austin setup had 10 or so people on them. That means that one team was getting all the processors. I KNEW something like this was going to happen, so I cut the teams back to six members each. Why did I do this? So, I would have the ability to give out or do a drawing for the remaining four processors.

I'm glad I had this foresight and to be honest you guys shouldn't be bummed out or upset as things worked out as planned for the most part. The team is thriving, blowing away ppd records and work units are getting done which is the whole point.

We have what 47 people in the folding war? That includes those on standby?

6 members of a team will win processors. That leaves 4 processors left for 41 people... Those odds are 1 in 10ish that you will still win a CPU. Pretty damn good odds if you ask me. I'm happy AMD sent over 10 processors to give away and I hope we can get together even better prizes next time we do this. If this isn't a complete PITA and burnt out the mods and folders we can do this more than once a year.

it looks like markwrc quit on us for the last 3 days...not that it would make much difference :finga:
I think we all had a chance trying to dig up extra folding power and well...spitter has done it - good for him, the cause and the whole LR team! nothing should be changed as Apop said. team F deserves the CPU's and there is 5 more to be drawn, where chances are still way higher than in any other previous contest I ever seen. the team put out an amazing boost of points during this contest and I think the only bad thing is that it's over too soon. It should of been held for 1 or maybe even 2 months - but otherwise all is perfect and I'm very proud of the team's progress. it looks like we will be soon in the first 80 teams worldwide :supz:

I do have a question....and I'll leave the outcome to the masses. What should be done with billabong_69. He has gotten our team 131 points. I do know he is folding on AMD laptop and a bigger work unit could be to blame...but I have PM him 4 times with no response!? I think it is an easy descision....UNLESS he was put on our team with the idea he would not get many points at all (to make up the average used for each team, only admin nows that one). If he is kicked out, should the next highest spare folder be put in...I would ask if the CPU should just be put back in draw but I think the vote on that could be a little one sided :) My vote is the spare who has the most points be added to the team....he/she kept putting up the points and was not even on a team. But I am not sure about that one...so whatever you guys want. I'll jst say out of it unless someone asks me  hey...it could happen

EDIT: Please be nice....he was trying with rather lowly hardware and it would have been all to easy to think his points were worthless and give up.

I want to hit 100K before the contest ends, I have about 40K more to go. I have never folded before this event and I now plan to leave my GPU folding all the time, this contest is just what I needed to prod me into taking the time to do it. I hope more are prompted to do the same. Thanks Nate and friends. Here is to the new year bringing all of us a fresh start and opportunities.
