Strategy

Would the powers that be allow for a private temporary thread viewable only by your team members? This would allow for a little strategy in secret. Just a thought...nothing personal Darkstar...but isn't having a guy who can add more PPD in a day than most of us could produce in three, sort of like having Tom Brady playing in a high school playoff game...he can basically win whenever he wants to. I am not complaining, just saying out loud what many others are thinking. Just my two cents.

If you noticed, he was teamed up with people who produced significantly less PPD on average. It was balanced out.

It is more like Tom Brady with a middle school team, vs a high school team. or something like that :P

Anyways, go look at the numbers.

I did look at the numbers. The numbers I noticed the most were the ones added to the PPD. All of Dan and Apop's efforts to balance the teams are wasted if someone can add more that double my total production on a whim. My system is not by any means top of the line but it is a good computer. The people who would appreciate the prize the most are also those who can add the least to their PPD. I do not intend any disrespect to you Dark star! I admire the work you put in to donate to a good cause. Now I am going to try to find a bunch of friends who may know people who have access to servers etc. to help me kick Darkies behind.

I agree Darkstar's output is going to be ridiculous! But it's all for the greater good I guess. Being on the winning team won't be the only way to win a processor, so there's hope to get one even if your team hasn't got the highest points at the end of the competition.

Setting up temporary forums is a bit too much effort :P

You could just send private messages out to your team to discuss tactics?

Dan

no offense taken but I think my team is in 4th place? I think you need to look at the big picture :)

as for those who would appreciate the prize most, i dont even have a working system of my own right now (except this laptop) and am trying to get parts together to build one for my son.

but i think i kind of felt the same way back when i was chasing iceman and the others when i first started folding....

Don't make me go back into the test lab and grab all my video cards and start folding... I need to run an extension cord from my neighbors house... lol

And from someone who's seen the shelves of GPUs in the lab first hand, that would be impressive :P

No Apop don't do that, your kiddos will play nice. Well I did notice that from whom much is recieved much can be lost. I expected more people to run steady numbers than appears to be realistic. My work will not allow any use of IT resources for anything that is not work so I made the mistake of assuming that most people are folding with personal property like I am. Sorry Darkstar! Fold on brother...but I will try my best to beat you.

no I was thinking ...fold slowly and lead all the rest of you to not try so hard and then just when you think you have it won....BAM hit you with a 30k PPD boost the last two days so you wont have a chance to get any addition stuff online in time. Only works if I could actually add anything. As it stands now I can't get anyone to help me troubleshoot my client problem.

Everyone is just folding as much as they can, regardless of other teams/people. That wouldn't do you any good.

Also, folding does have other purposes other than just this contest. Fold as much as you can for the cause, don't hold back :)

DO IT!!!!

Hmm if you did that and put a couple computers in each and every room besides the kitchen and bathroom, I wonder if you can turn the heat off...

I think the problem started with this statement "Almost anything is fair game, from adding rigs, to overclocks, whatever you want. If you get someone else to fold, and its not under your name, post it, so we can keep them on the standby list in case someone quits, breaks down or something like that."

Kinda throws any rules out the window...err...toilet :toimonster:

If ever you want to send them out to folders, let me be first on the list.

Ditto =) my 9600GSO and 8800gt could use upgrading, lol - I think the GTX260 is still pretty good, well better than the other 2 anyway!
