I have a 250 while I am waiting for my 280's to be RMA. I think it is a very good folder for the money and doesn't use a lot of power. Look at the difference between the 9600gso and the 250 here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productco ... 6814130509 I think the extra money is worth it.

I've got a piddly Asus 4650 in the mix, does 3 or 4 work units a day. Not sure what its pulling in the way of ppd but it was 50 bucks or so and works for the PC I shoved it in. Needed a low profile card that didn't require a 6 pin power.

Wrong GSO...the 512 and 1 gig modles only have 48 proccessors...the 384 and 768 modles have 96...big difference in folding@home. I have read the 384 is good for 3K-4K per day.

The reason I started this tread was because I have 2 comps at work that fun 24/7...I think they both have PCI-E slots. Was thinking about tossing a card in them, but for economic reasons the need to be cheap.

They did make 512MB and 1GB models with 96 processors.I bought a pair of 512MB 9600 GSO's for only $50 each brand new when they were on newegg 2 months ago..now theyre deactivated

I picked up a couple of second hand 8800GS's for the folding war, which are essentially 9600GSO's. The points for the price is about the best ratio you can get at the minute.
