GPU3 Open Beta Released!

We have a new GPU core (core 15) going into an open beta test for NVIDIA clients. This core requires a new client (see below) as well as the latest drivers (197.45). This core is the first run of the GPU3 technology, derived from the OpenMM project at Stanford (http://simtk.org/home/openmm). You can find more information in our GPU3 FAQ (see url below).

While this release is for NVIDIA only to start, we are actively pushing ATI support (with the help of AMD/ATI), although we have no ETA at the moment. However, please do not use this client with an ATI GPU at the moment.

This is the first open beta test of this new client and core, so there are likely bugs to be found as more donors try this out on more diverse sets of hardware. Also, the documentation (GPU3 FAQ) is new too and there are possibly some errors there too. However, the client has been QA'd both internally at Stanford and with our closed group of beta testers and is looking pretty good so far. Please post bugs or issues in the GPU section of this forum.

I'll be upgrading ASAP once I finish my current WU.

For reference, I'm getting 3500PPD on my 9600GT folding Project 5770 which is worth 353 points. This is a GPU2 WU.

I don't see the download for windows 7 64 bit. Could you stream line the download info for me.

Windows 7 download is the same as Vista. Just use the Vista console version.

I'm using GPU3 atm and TPF is 02:37. According to my calculations, there's a slight drop in PPD. I'll let it run a couple WU then decide whether to stick with GPU3 Beta or go back to GPU2.

Just dropped the systray client on my Win7 Ultimate 64bit with my GTX480 @830mhz, the client said the first unit will be done in 52min.

I'll check on it here in a bit to see where its setting.

Likewise threw it on my GTX480 (at the stock for my card of 720 core, 950 mem) and it was doing 36seconds/frame, which put it just under the hour mark.

Should be getting around 15k ppd at this rate.

Well, had to leave work, just looked to see if any points were turned in yet. I havent see any pop up so I'm thinking the box has locked up. Anyone else have any lockups yet?

Talked to one of my coworkers and had them check the machine for me, worried it may had sprung a leak. Thankfully it had not [-o<

It was chugging away on its 7th unit and was 50% mark on it. Thought the points would have shown up, maybe the afternoon update will show them.

noon update had some points in it.

4 units, 2,440 points. rough math 610 per unit, 1 unit per hour, 14,640 per day.

PPD seems have taken a slight hit with GPU3. Temperatures remain more or less the same though. Some users with a GTX are reporting that they don't have to hear their GPUs whine anymore with GPU3.

Not sure if it's related or not, but the core and memory speeds seem to have become a bit more important in GPU3. Or it can be the fact that these WU have a slightly different TPF when progressing through different parts of the WU.

How much PPD are you putting out? Can you change the Voltages?

roughly 14,600 ~ 15,000 per day. Getting an average of 610 per unit and 1 unit every ~hour.

I have the voltage bumped slightly 1.1125v (using EVGA E-LEET) and core overclocked to 830mhz (701 stock)

and just heads up for us ATI users the GPU3 beta client v6.30r2 can also be used by us despite what F@H forums say but the FarCore remains the same FarCore_11 so GPU2 WU's ... but the good news :) is no more frigging around with switches to get your Card recognized =D> bad news the viewer doesn't work #-o

The bloody thing keeps saying: attempting to get work packet. Anyone have more details on this one, how to enable ATi-cards on GPU3-cores? :snakeman:
