Restarting Folding

Post by shamrok3 »

Hi guys.
I haven't been folding (or on the forums) for a while now, and am looking to start back up. It's been ages, so a quick setup walkthrough would be excellent, as well as how best to set up my system/s for folding. Currently having issues with my main desktop, so it will be a while till that's up, but I was running a client through VMWare + a GPU client... Looking to run my desktop (specs in sig) possibly my laptop + PS3.
Will take a quick trawl of the general FAQs etc.

get SMP2, no vmware and don't fold on the laptop or PS3, neither are really worth the extra power and heat/shorter lifespan

the 4890 should be running GPU2, and i think it'll be good for 3k per day, the X4 should be ~6k depending on clock speed

I've investigated oc'ing the P-II and have had up to 3.98GHz on my old TT HSF. Unfortunately, the mobo overclocking has a fit and AMD overdrive hasn't worked since I installed Win7. REALLY need to flash BIOS, but can't be bothered finding a floppy drive...
+ are you sure about the laptop? It's got a crappy CPU, but a 9800MGTS 1GB, which was outperforming the 4890 (probably a config issue).
