Trying some smp folding on my 3.6 ghz i7. downloaded a 1601 wu TPF was over an hour.....deleted the files and got a new work unit. This one is a 6054, 900 PPD, TPF 23 minutes........ Just doing this in windows and I am running 2 GPU clients on this box. I'm just messing around....but I expected numbers higher than that.

I thought you needed to do 10 work units LATELY to get -bigadv since I have not done one for about 10 - 11 months....I was wrong. Added -verbosity 9 -bigadv -smp and what do you know....bigadv unit is now running.... 8) I'm just not sure if 3.6ghz is fast enough to get it done on time. Hell...I don't even know if my system is stable enough to finish it. This could be fun....i7, 2600k, 4x gtx 560, 2x gtx 275. Now I just need to tell everyone in the house the i7 is off limits...ya...thats gonna happen.

That sounds about right. I run one graphic card per rig and and I go to task manager and I go to processes and uncheck one core for the graphic card. F@H does not make it easy to get points anymore. It takes about 3+ days to complete a WU. It all depends on what WU you get. Heck, I was running a -a5 core WU and the next WU turned into a -A3 WU. I don't know why that happened but it did. It's taking about a hour per %. When it is done I am going to set it up again. My normal time for a % is about 42-43 min. It depends on the WU.

Edit: All you have to do is make over 2 mil. points per month and you will be fine. :) http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... =&u=223308 This month I'm running 3 big-adv point rigs.

I just checked. SMP client is using about 95% 97% of the cpu. But I think something is wrong...the TPF is way to long. I used to do a frame in 54 minutes...this is at 1 hour and 20min and counting......no point. The i7 might just be left for the gpus. It also gets used to much and I think to do it propperly I need to run vmware. The 2600k will get vmware and run with a power cord and network cable. The i7 with the 275s does make a great heater though, nice and warm in the computer room today.

edit...shooting for 3,000,000 points a month. And my old signature is back...interesting. Wish I knew where it came from all of a sudden.

Oh...thats why the sig came back...I was wifuzzy, not Wi-Fuzzy....lol

My _A3 WU completed and switched back to _A5 WU running at about 42-43 min per %. I am running at my max. now. If you can beat my score, more power to you. Fold on! :)

My i7 has settled down to about 46 min a frame. For some reason the first one took 1 1/2 hours.. :? .. As for beating your score...I might get ya on daily total....maybe....guess we will find out in about 10 days, then I'll have evrything running that I'm going to run. But I don't fold all the time so I will alway be seeing you higher in the standings....remember to wave to us little guy :) s

I have my i7-920 at around 4ghz and also fold on a gtx260 (WOOHOO-let me alone :p) On my i7 hfm.net program tells me I get around 17456ppd and the gtx260 gives 7343ppd.

Dunno if that helps or not.

for comparison with my 2600k @ 4.8g, my tpf is 25 min which equates to about 1 day 18 hours per SMP WU for 49k PPD

I got my i7 930 rig folding and it's turning them in at 32min TPF. For about 34k ppd. Although I'm going to have to back the overclock down a bit as the temps are a bit high. It only has a hyper 212+ cooling it.

My i7 920@ 3.82 is has a 6901 wu and is 25,000 ppd. TPF is 38:50 ish. My 2600k is on it's way....and so are 4 more gtx 560s. Judging by the temerature rise in the basement.....I don't think i'll be doing t much folding in the summer. It has been 0F to -15F here for the past week and I have the heat shut off on the computer room  ...it's still the warmest room in the house :) The box with the 4 560s is going to sit in the basement family room. Bet ya I can shut the heat of there also.
Back to the i7. This thing pisses me off....3.82 ghz and it runs @ 52C...3.9ghz is 53-54C...not stable. I have a feeling I just don't know to overclock these i7s propperly.

I have to admit that I am an Idiot. I did not know you can't overclock a 2600K with an H67 motherboard  So I am going to have a computer thats is fairly useless for folding until the new motherboards come out. This from the hardware geek. Anyone wanna buy an H67 board for a regular computer....I will have one for sale in 2-4 weeks........

Don't follow -bigadv folding much anymore, but with the new A5 cores, I believe it's better if you fold in Linux via VMware. Take a look into that.
