Quad GPU issue...?

My quad GTX 560 rig has hit a snag. It is now working on 912 and 925 point units WU#s 11260, 11261, 10958. I have a dual core amd 250...I think 3.0+ ghz...and on these work units I am CPU bottlenecked. If I dissable one of the cards my PPD goes up 4000-5000 per card. Do I need another upgrade or is this just an oddity?

should be running at least a quad core for 4 GPUs (and should anyway, that's a lotta GPU power for a stock dualcore lol)

Eh hem..... Question was "how much of a CPU do I need for quad GPU folding?"

Answer from Skier "find a board with 4 PCIe slots and you can run it, cards can't fold in SLI anyway so you just add in dummy plug 'monitors' so they each have an independent work load

as for CPU doesn't really matter as long as it is a Core2 or better (pentium4 *could* run it if you are just running it headless after install)... :axe:

didn't say anything about performance, you CAN run it, but desire better results, so find a chip that can unlock to quad?

I figured it would have lower performance but that much of a dropoff because a gpu client for me only uses 0-12% of a core

Just put in a quad 635. It runs at 90% and I gained 20,000 PPD on those units. Anyone wanna but a AMD Athlon II X2 250 dual core?
