Front Page Write Up to Come

Basically this is my plan. While being very very board in my Database Class last week, I decided we need a frontpage write-up. Apoptosis was very gracious to say that if we wrote something he would post it. Here's my plan
Front Page Story in Multiple Parts
Part 1
- What is Folding, general get people to join
- How to Set it up
- Tweaking
- Tracking Stats
- etc
Part 2 - Folding Performance
- Conroe vs Pentium D
- Un'Oced vs Oc'ed
- 1X1GB (Generic) vs 2x512MB (TeamGroup D9s)
If you guys feel we should add anything else or what to help me write this up, whether it be proof reading or whatnot, please let me know. I'm busy with class, Drinking with the guys, and whatnot.
I'm gonna compare these systems.
930D
1X1GB Ram
ECS SLI-XE Board
vs
E6400
2X512MB Ram
Asus P5B
I might forgo the Testing in the ECS board because it won't OC for its life and just use the Asus P5B with the 930 and the E6400 and the different Rams.
Basically the benching is gonna take place over a whole grouping of WUs. What I'm gonna need from you guys is different WUs so I can bench the whole lot of em, figure out what gives you the best PPD, what is the best settings etc. This may take a while, but I think it may help the new folders and old folders alike, give everyone an idea of what performance increases they can expect.
Basically this is what you can expect from me in the near future or so
E6400
Asus P5B
2X512MB TeamGroup with Micron D9GMH ICs
and everything else in my sig.
I hope to hit at least 3.0GHZ on the E6400, which seems to be what most are hitting as a minimum over at XS, but I'm still doing my research.
You may be asking why I'm using the P5B, well the Lian Li mounts board upside down so I can't use heat pipes. That and the P5B-E at the egg went from 129.99 to 179.99 in 2 and half days, when Asus was quoted as it being in the 129.99 to 149.99 range. Both boards are capable of doing 500FSB so I'm game.
