about to complete my 2nd SMP with vmware WU within the next hour.

I must say though....SMP folding will check system stability much better than any cpu stress test i've run yet. I was running fine @ 3.4 with OCCT, but as soon as I was folding with SMP for 1 hour it would interrupt my folding...backed it down to 3.33 and it runs great.

yeah FAH has a history of being a great stability checker

You'll probably have to do some searching for a linux or Ubuntu image for vmware to load up.

I just used all the original settings for vmware.

You can find instructions pretty easy on how to get everything set up. I'd give you more detailed information but I have to start getting ready for work. It's pretty easy to find info by just searching.

also note, I noticed that my screensaver will not kick on as long as my vmware window is active....so make sure after you get everything going you take the focus off vmware.

Note that the SMP client requires 2 or more CPU cores. ;) To run VMWare you must have a CPU capable of Virtualization Technology. For AMD that means CPU's with Revision F or later. You can check the revision with CPU-z.

If you've got an X2 CPU or Pentium D but no VT you'll have to run a dedicated Linux install, or wait for the Windows SMP client.

The CPU does NOT require VT or Pacifica support (Virtualization) for vmware to work!!!! You do need 2 or more CPU cores though!

Virtualization is another thing all together!

Here are the CPU requirements from the VMWare site for running a 64-bit guest machine.

Workstation 5.5 and VMware Server 1.0 support virtual machines with 64-bit guest operating systems only on host machines that have one of the supported 64-bit processors:

* AMD Athlon 64, revision D or later
* AMD Opteron, revision E or later
* AMD Turion 64, revision E or later
* AMD Sempron, 64-bit-capable revision D or later (experimental support)
* Intel EM64T VT-enabled processors (experimental support)

alright Goku... got SMP installed and I'm coming after you. If I can't catch you this week, you'll be sucking dust by the following week when my 2nd c2d SMP folder is up and running. ;)

nice. I'll have both c2ds running vmware SMP most of the time, and the daily driver running graphical. should be good for @3750-3800 ppd.

not really. it worked better last night... vegas just ctd'd instead of locking up the system. I'll probably just reinstall windows and not put so much garbage on it next time.

Goku... what kind of times are you get per % with your system?

I have the e6600, oc'd to 3.375 and I'm seeing @ 11m39-41s per. 4% from sending up my first SMP completed WU. Hello 58th place, here I come.
