In a post in the topic, "200 Work Units Completed," Apoptosis made this statement:
It is likely in our lifetime that some of the very people on this forum may have their life impacted by some of the things that we today are folding and trying to understand.
This is the place where you can share some of your stories and reasons for wanting to do f@h. I have already mentioned that I am doing this because of alzheimer's disease, which my grandfather had before he died 2 years ago. Here is My Story.

What is your reason for doing this?

I have a few reasons. First i think proteins are cool as hell, and i had been meaning to start folding for quite some time but the motivation to do so seemed to be lacking. Joining the Legit team made it o so easy for me as i want to do my best to help out the site, forum, and community. Secondly i am an overclocker. As an overclocker it seems futile to waste all the extra cycles and power that i spend my time working for. Now i can say that my overclocked systems are being put to good use. And finaly it would be nice to benefit from this research, as i could really use some replacement eyes, and ears, as i seem to have dammaged mine almost to the point of needing serious assistance.
