Well i got my system fired up and am having some issues...
It's installed in the x86 program files folder and i am running everything in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 with admin rights... If I don't do that it won't even launch... I can get it to launch and d/l the work units, but it gives me a communications error...

I don't remember what errors I was getting, but I tried to get the windows SMP client to run on my Vista 64 install for a few hours, then just scrapped it and downloaded VMWare Workstation 6 Beta and installed Ubuntu 64-bit with that... and started running the Linux 64-bit SMP client and chugging ~1700 ppd with that machine alone.

I'd have to agree on VVMWare and Linux as the way to go but...
I remember a couple of time when I set up a new client that I would have to let the 1st phase, core downloading go as it would fail the 1st few times but after a while it would succeed but I've never even tried with Vista so what do I know

That's not a bad way to go. I can even run the Gpu Client if I get a lightweight wu like a 3025 on the Linux Client

doesn't Vista 64 already have .NET 2 on it?

which version of VMWare did you install?? I had to get VMWare Workstation 6 Beta as that is the only one that has official Vista support and VMWare Server 5.x would not even install for me.
Either way, make sure when you setup the VM that you change the number of cores to let the VM use... it defaulted to 1 for me and I had to change it to 2.
Then if you're installing Ubuntu 64-bit, make sure you type 'sudo apt-get install ia32-libs' from a console before trying to run the folding client. This will save you some frustration after you thought you were finished.
Just some tips I remember from setting up mine.

It might, i dont have it installed, but the folding requires that .NET 2.0 be installed. You can have 1.1 and 3.0 also.

I talked with Mike Huston one of the head F@H guys when I was in Tunis (he was there speaking) and he said Vista support is totally screwed up and not to even use it. He said that virtualization is the way to go... Bummer Vista X64 support is so bad
