help inst xp

Post by fenriswolfr »

okay so I am using this copied disc to install xp and I get a fatal error saying setup cannot continue with installation incorrect parameters or something. It's in the I386 folder.. what I am just wanting to make sure of is that this IS purely a software problem (the copied cd), and not something I screwed up with my my computer or hdd or something like that?

Does the CD keep failing the install at that point? Sounds like its damaged, check for scratches etc. (even if there arent any, it could be a bad burn, has it sucessfully been used to install windows before?)

The I386 contains files that you would normally find in your Windows Install Disc. Maybe there are some corrupted files in it? Rename the folder temporarely and try again the installation. Maybe that might help :]
