Windows Vista Power Management And You

Post by Sovereign »

Post here if you have been running Windows Vista on a laptop. If you can, give an estimate of how long the battery lasts in Vista under a "standard" (dynamic CPU switching) mode versus "Xtreme Power Saveage" (CPU throttled to absolute minimum using Vista's built in tools). What about using Notebook Hardware Control? Don't. NHC + Vista = BSoD!

My Results:
Prof canceled class because he put the reading outside his office for like one hour and when we didn't all come get it right away he assumed we didn't read and called off class, but the battery estimate with extreme power savings set was around 6:00, which is what I got under XP (I could get it to read 6:50, but that's sitting idle and also was before the battery wore by 7%).

Will have to see what "balanced" does...must do homework!

For all the things I've heard about Vista/XP having issues with standby/sleep I've never had a problem with either. No "burning backpack" with my laptop, Vista or XP...
