Windows XP SP3 Beta

Post by Major_A »

I got the SP3 earlier and installed it on my "throw away box" just to see if anything substantial was updated like in SP2. So far I haven't noticed any difference over SP2 except that most of the updates/hotfixes seem to be included in the SP. I normally wouldn't include a torrent link to a file on a forum but since a post in the gaming section showed a link to a pirated game this seems a lot less unscrupulous.

Link REMOVED, do not post anything like this again

If you want to try it install the exe or slipstream it to a disk.
Slipstream utilities - AutoStreamer or nLite
JUST REMEMBER THIS IS CONSIDERED BETA AND MICROSOFT BETA RELEASES ARE JUST THAT. IF YOUR BOX GETS NUKED DO NOT BLAME ME.

Here are some screenshots. The first one is self explanatory and last two show the available updates immediately after a Windows install with SP3 slipstreamed.

SP3 for Windows XP Professional is currently planned for 1H CY2008. This date is preliminary.

Well from what I've read Microsoft said it's a beta for a beta. I didn't see anything new, it just seems that most post SP2 hotfixes are included in the package. There is no IE7 or WMP11 included in the package and that seemed strange.

Sorry for putting you in an awkward spot there Matt. I decided against my better judgment to post that link. The only defense I have for myself is I had to use a legit MS Windows disk to slipstream the SP. Again I'm sorry and it won't happen again.

It isn't a beta, it's a leak.
