OS specifically for old folks

Post by HONkUS »

Hey i might be building a new computer for my Girlfriend's grand parents and I was wondering if anyone knows of a Linux port that might be specifically tailored for easy use by the elderly. I tried to teach my grandma windows and it was a disaster she kept losing track of the cursor and could double click fast enough and yeah it was miserable. The people im building this for are still kickin around with Win 3.11.

So anyone know of anything thats big and bright and easy to use?

Like for kids/old people?

Ubuntu!
Just make the icons large and place all the ones they might need on the desktop!! Even rename the shortcut for firefox to "internet", Evolution to "E-mail" etc.

The nice thing with Linux is the GUI is totally configurable, if their eyesight is bad you can set to font be large and or bold.
