hey guys and a few gals! i'm finally putting Vista 64-bit on my pc, which already has XP Pro 32-bit on it. i've got Gparted (0.3.4-9 i believe) and now i think i'm ready to get this dual boot up and running. i am using THIS PAGE as a guide for my adventure, but i'm wondering if there are any nuggets of information you'd suggest in addition to it. thanks in advance!

Nice guide! Didn't know about the diskpart trick. Gosh why do they have to hide these stuff!

Just a hint, since you were using linux too if i remember correctly, anything you add in the XP boot.ini will automatically show on vista's bootloader so you can boot straight from there! So if you add linux again, all you have to do is make it install grub on the linux partition and not the MBR.
Then boot back to XP and run bootpart. Bootpart will make a loader for the partition and automatically insert it in boot.ini.
So when you boot, vista's bootloader will show all 3 of them

Tell us what you think of vista 64bit! I have all my programs etc in XP (32bit) and i need 32bit Linux for what i do.
Now i have Vista 32bit but i was thinking of trying something 64bit and Vista is the only one i can change

thanks man! (i have Xubuntu 7.10, 32 AND 64 bit on the way in the mail so it should get here in a few days) im actually gonna create the partitions for those two OSes as soon as i get another harddrive and can move over a lot of my storage, and run all my programs off of my raptor. anyhow thanks!

Hey I know you were the one asking for help.. BUT, I have about say.. 80gb of music and 10gb of pics on my computer if I do that partitioning thing do I have to leave all this on that partition to get them to dual boot properly. Or should I back everything up, and fresh install xp and then do this. I plan on using vista for some things and xp for others. I don't care much about losing a little performance with vista I don't think but, I want to see if in directx 10 I can still max everything out if I can I'll use vista if not I'll continue using xp
