Problems with Windows ME

My mom has Windows ME installed on her computer (yeah, I know ](*,) ) and has been having issues with it for awhile. I've uninstalled a lot of useless stuff from her computer and did some basic maintainance (defrag etc) but I remember reading something about buffer overflow issues with ME somewhere and was hoping someone here could enlighten me on this. Any other ideas to optimize this computer would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

If it was me having to do what you are doing I would back up all programs and reinstall ME. If it was me really, I would build you mom a new comp. or give here one your tired of. That's just me. We only have one mom and they are the best! :)

yeah, just backup the files, and install XP Home SP2 (soon to be Service Pack 3!!!). XP doesn't cost that much now anyways.

Oh how I'd love too, I can't convince her to upgrade and I don't really have any computers I don't use. Perhaps a early mother's day present...as for you woofd:

Well, every time something would happen to my windows ME pc, i'd have to reinstall windows, time consuming, especially if the comp has poor performance, but it definitely works well. (registry cleaner or CCleaner might help registry conflicts, if you haven't already tried those.)

Oh, and i don't use the WinME PC often, i have a new computer with Vista (in sig) (hm, maybe i shouldn't have said that :-k ). I only use the old one when the parents are using the new computer.

You can't convince her? Well, Win2000 looks exactly like WinME. And XP with it's visuals turned off looks like Win2000 which looks like WinME. So she won't be lost, there'll be no difference.

Convince her it's more stable, reliable, secure, and crashes less. Hell, the fact that explorer can crash on XP and comes back, should be enough to convince anyone.
