Hopefully someone has an idea what might be causing BSOD's on a friends computer!
It is a newly built PC consisting of these parts...
ASUS Striker II Formula
Q6600
GSkill 1066
2- 500G Seagate SATA drives
2- Lite On DVD-RW SATA drives
EVGA 8800GTX

This system consistently BSOD's when you eject a disc from either of the optical drives!
I do not have easy access to the system so if you have any questions please be as specific as possible.

Hi,
try setting the sata controller to Basic/IDE mode if it is in AHCI.
I have read numerous compatibility problems caused by sata dvds :(

That would be in the BIOS.

Also you could check online to make sure the firmware is the latest! I just had to update firmware on a drive for my uncle because it wouldnt burn discs

You can get the model number of the drive my going to device manager and clicking the + at the cd/dvd rom label

I went by his house over the weekend and went through his comp and found out there are a couple updates to his BIOS. I didnt have enough time to update it but I'm sure I can walk him through it over the phone or chat.

Does anyone think a BIOS update could possibly fix his BSOD problem?

It could, usually on a bios uptate there is an explanation or list of what the update/fix is for. If not you might want to try a different drive and see if it still BSOD's
