I am such a Linux dummy, I can only afford to mess with the final versions :)

I haven't had a chance to try out Intrepid Ibex yet but it sounds promising...funnily enough, I only just recently figured out the numbering scheme (8.04 released the 4th month of the 8th year)

Any of you guys try out Alpha 5 or Alpha 6? Alpha 6 is still the latest - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/intrepid/alpha-6/

Seems the broke some stuff with Intel gigabit network devices though
Older Intel ethernet hardware which uses the e1000 driver is not affected by this; however, some hardware which used the e1000 driver in previous Ubuntu releases, such as hardware that uses a PCI Express bus, has been moved from e1000 to e1000e in the latest kernel releases. If in doubt, do not use these images, and subscribe to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/263555 to be notified when the bug is fixed.
The first beta comes out tomorrow, so i'm going to be trying that one out.
