I just found a blog entry that was posted yesterday about a recent Microsoft conference that is pretty interesting.

According to this slide Windows 7 DWM uses the DirectX3D10.1 API... That would be a win for AMD and ATI!

Nice!

Someone didn't proofread that very well.

"Windows 7 cuts memory consumption is cut by 50% per window" -- :vom:

Nah, that's correct, what it really means once you work out the double negative is that Windows 7 memory consumption is increased by 50% per window... :axe:

Actually, Kyle, I can assure you that Windows 7 is MUCH less of a RAM hog than Vista ;)

Just take my word for it...

From what I understand Windows 7 is just using Vista and getting rid of what people complain about Vista and adding what people want in Vista.

The demonstration I saw was how Windows 7 is also touchscreen, which serves limited desktop use but for public terminals and use as an OS for phone platforms would be Microsoft's competition with Apple and Google (essentially by copying both companies, copyrights work for Microsoft but never against them it seems).

Also the addition of "Cloud computing" which is essentially an OS that is aligned to a Web 2.0 approach from what I understand. An internet hard drive can serve as your main hard drive probably, I can see where it would have useful applications in business, but also can see the security exploitations of such a format.

I think ultimately 7 is not so different from Vista to be a separate release, but it will convert some XP users over to 7 that refuse to convert to Vista.

Ummm, the Windows Mobile OS already does touchscreen. I'm not sure when it first supported it, but I have had 6.0 and currently have 6.1 and both support it. I don't know who was the first to have a mobile OS with touch, but I know it has been available since before the iPhone came out. I have the HTC Mogul and it had 6.0 on it (which does touch) - the phone came out about 3 months prior to the iPhone. The Mogul's predecessor was the PPC-6700 and it had touch. The 6700 was another couple of years (or so) before that and supported touch on a windows mobile platform. I do realize these comments are specifically directed toward mobile OS phone market.

Consider also how long copy machines have used touch technology. Face it, everyone copies something from someone else to make their product better. Personally I hate the way Vista was brought it in. All that delay and still no new file system...bleh... We'll see how 7 turns out.

I can say that since I've had a Windows based phone I hate M$ more and more each day. I will probably go back to a blackburrrrry once my contract is up with this phone. :hijacked:

Yeah, my WM 6 phone is kinda bugging out on me, I am going blackberry for the next one, or maybe I will ditch verizon and get a T-Mobile phone with Android.

Yipee, although this probably won't affect too many games in the near future, but i'm looking forward to win7 anyways, so it's a plus, ugh, love the interface sooo much!
