After working with it here and there as time provided over the months I have finally got my own web server up and hosting it my self. It has been a learning experience in just how fragmented Linux has become it seems. However it is finally working and seems to be working well. I haven't got everything active yet like e-mail notifications and private messaging but it is functioning and the forums are up and running for the guild. I'm not even close to being confident of my skills in the OS after working with it all this time yet. At least now I can bungle around to degree and eventually get it to do what I want it to.

The server is running on an old 2gz celeron laptop =)

deleted the link cause I saw the traffic start to spike up REALLY fast.

Its dropped now from 78 guests down to 4. Just surprised at how fast the number shot up after having the link up for just a few minutes.

Nice, i wish i knew networking we have two weak systems that could make half-decent servers

(maybe not the Pentium iii 600 but hey, it runs XP Pro easily enough  )

i do know phpBB forums very well, and i have a freeforum that i keep just so i can see settings if i ever need to set one up again(like adding [youtube] tags)

I have the youtube tags running. the next thing to get fully functional is the private messaging and maybe e-mail notifications.

Wait till you starting learning the true ins and outs of DNS! the world of webhosting is fun, complex, boring, exciting, :( , , :? ...LOL

If you want to learn more, a great starter is throwing up a picture site using gallery2 or your own forums using simple machine forums. It will get you use to PHP, MySQL, and more of apache.

It is nice to finally get it up and running. But I have had enough of the linux madness for now. At least till I'm feeling better.
