Operating System For New Build
Operating System For New Build
Hi All,
I'm getting ready to build a new machine, around AMD'S X2 4400 processor & DFI's Lanparty UT nF4 SLI D mobo & either nVidia's 7800 GTX or GT video card. My question is should I go with XP Pro 32 bit or 64 bit.
Thank You in advance for all replies.

I'm playing with XP Pro 64-bit in VMWare on my Mobile Athlon64 and I'm glad that I'm using VMWare because otherwise I would be very disappointed with XP Pro. The lack of drivers and in some cases lack of quality software not working on the OS is very disappointing. I might eventually try the 64-bit on my dual-core Opteron 175 system but not even that impressed me enough to try. :p Now playing with SUSE 64-bit is more fun.

It's a cool board....will work nice for you....there are some "probs" with it
see here: http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=3971
You will want good ram to go with it.....also update the stock Bios asap.....
There are some "peculiarities" with the board which you need to take note....
I've only had mine since the 24th....I spent about 18hrs tweaking it....
The main difference from this to the "standard" lanparty is dram drive strenghts....(apart from layout)
You need to try ALOT of diffferent bios settings to get the best from the ram...Basic OC'in is great and easy, just getting that little bit more takes time!
Hope you enjoy the board!

Crazy system....
THAT'S A MONSTER!!
First off, I wouldn't go for a 4000+ cpu......Dual core is the way to go......
Second, the board, are you sure? I have it (great BTW). but i requires resrearch B4 buying....there "might" be a prob with them killing cpu's.....only a very few % of people (.001%), you might want to google search reagrding...there is a new beta bios which is suppsed to help....beta means no warranty! I have to stress there is a very low chance of any probs!
The ram your going for...It the "titanium" range! they are not for overclcokig btw...they are designed for stability first and formost! (just so you know!)
I wanna see some 3DMark Results and some picks when it's done.....
