The new colour themes, visual style and icons in Vista are simply dazzling. A big change from Windows XP. I really can't wait to try Vista out once it has been finalized. :)

How's the performance on your system? Is Vista a killer to your framerates? I've heard other people mentionning that their framerates in games have dropped because of Vista's hungry graphics and such.

not really.

CSS was still laggy. Lol.

I ran it on an MX440 so even with XP CSS was laggy. Vista was no difference.

Although just opening new windows in vista was a bit laggy. Gaming was fine though. I was even hosting a game server off it.

ms still need to tweak the perforamnce of vista, when I tested it, it's still quite laggy specially the 64bit.

To be honest, I'm not that impressed with the snapshot I've just seen. It looks like nothing more than Windows XP with WindowBlinds installed on it.

I've tried boh the 32 and 64 bit versions............. It looks great and all with everything turned on, but it does bog down a system when you'er used to flying from page to page. I suppose if you were to turn off all the bells and junk it would be a bit faster, but I still like XP better. And there's a lot of the bench programs that don't work right under Vista...............

agreed. i hate that i can't get sound drivers on vista... and some videos won't work on the vista wmp. i was hoping it'd be a little more user friendly (more like os x) and less like xp, but it's not exactly too easy to use. there are a lot of new things and system popups whenever you try going from file to file, etc.

mostly sweet, somewhat lame.

I'm trying to buy the DVD kit, but on the Shipping - Checkout page, there's this gray bar that blocks a good section of the page so I can't see what the field is for, much less what I've typed. Anybody else get this? (I'm using Firefox, BTW)

EDIT: I went to the same page with IE7 and it worked. Since when did M$ favor IE over FF?

With my old system I'm only getting a performance rating of 3, and that with a few things OC'd a little. Time for some upgrades if you want to run this OS fast with all the eye candy turned up.

you know what, I could care less what the os looks like in the way of the eye candy. I'd turn it all off anyway.

I won´t upgrade to windows vista until I need it, that is to say when I buy a dx10 graphics card as it won´t run dx10 in windows xp.
Also, at first the OS´s are very unsecure and buggy like windows xp when it firt appeared

I always play with the new OS releases, it all part of the MS Beta program. And besides, it harmless and causes no pain when installed on it's own HD ................... 8)
I like following the progress of a new OS instead not not knowing first hand what it can and can not do. It really blows having to relie on just reading about it and not knowing from doing............. :finga:
