vista Dual boot

Post by zparker »

I have not installed my 2nd 320gb sata drive and need to start learning vista for future job reasons. I dont see a problem with a dual boot but was wondering if it has been attempted or if any of you see a issue with it. Apot your input would be greatly appreciated too since you have loaded it...

should be an easy job, just be sure that you install xp first and then install vista, then the boot loader will automatically created to allow you to choose.

Yes I agree with Sam - from what i have read you have to install XP FIRST then install Vista. Vista uses a new boot loader.

I haven't done it since the RC2 but I had two partitions and installed vista on the empty partition. Worked pefectly. Boot loader would ask which OS I would want to boot into: Vista or "Previous Windows OS." Hope this helps.

I had Vista installed in a dual boot situation. Worked fine until I wanted to get rid of the Vista partition then ran into boot problems. I finally found a free little proggie called vista boot pro I think and it fixed up all my problems. Had a bit of a problem getting rid of the vista partition as well. I tried partition magic, wouldnt work. I also tried booting from a live linux cd and it wouldnt let me delete it. I searched around and found a partition manager that did work and all was good.

I have vista and XP but I have had problems with Firefox in Vista. I first installed firefox in the XP and then I installed in Vista. For some reason I could not start in it Vista it gave an error about a previous install of the firefox. So I uninstalled it from Vista. It works fine in XP.
