Vista Question - File Sharing

So, I've got two vista questions, but I figured I'd break them up into two threads, so one question doesn't get burried by the other.

I recently bought my fiance a new laptop, nothing too fancy, but here are the specs:

Acer Aspire
Core Duo 1.73 GHz
1 GB DDR2 533
120 GB
Intel GMA950
Vista Home Premium

One of the problems I'm having is trying to get her laptop to see the files I am sharing on my XP file server. When I pull up the computers on the network, she can see it, but when ever I click on it, it opens up Windows Media Player. Is there any way to browse shared folders like I can in XP?

No help but i have Vista Ultimate and it works right out of the box. I can see all 3 XP computers shared folders and view files, copy, etc.

I know I have to type a user name and password when i try to see the Vista shared folder from XP, so maybe you have to have a username and pw setup to make it work?

I don't see why I would have to. I'm not as concerned with my XP computer seeing the Vista laptop. I really don't get why it won't let me see the folders.

Did your vista come with an antivirus/spyware like Norton, I ran into this on my vista, you must disable nortons crappy firewall, it is blocking your network traffic, I bet you have something like this set up, or another firewall. You must disable it, i tried there trusted network and types of traffic settings, and it didn't even work as it should. it ws only a month trial, horrible, go for something free, I wish bitdefender had a vista version, not sure, I am going back to xp though anyways.
