vista Activation???

Post by smokin_mitch »

ok im running vista ultimate 64bit and iv had to reinstall a couple of times (ok 3-4 times)

and now when i try to activate it online its unable to????

i had to use phone activation? and the person i was talking to on the microsoft phone activation says cause iv installed it a few times i now have to use the phone activation method from now on if i want to install it again????

i think this is BS cause i usually format and reinstall on 6-12month basis anyway (well i did with xp and it activated online no prob everytime)

im beginning to regret getting vista

Yep, and if you get the OEM version you will get screwed if you change hardware ;)

Mike

I actually just bought the 2 keys for Vista for $49.99 each through that family plan. I will be trying one out this week or weekend to see if I can do full installs, or if I have to upgrade.

The phone activation is pretty easy though, you just answer a couple of questions, read off some numbers, and get a new code to type in.

I changed some hardware on my OEM copy a few days ago and had to call in, probably took me about 4 minutes total.

You do it online, maybe through windows marketplace, it doesn't work with the OEM copy of Vista though, only retail copies.

once you enter your dvd key it will tell you if you qualify.

Mike

I qualified with the Ultimate from the Intel program.
