BlackBox - CPU-Z Alternative

Post by Major_A »

I was visiting Xtremesystems the other night and came across a thread with this software. The thread starter/software creator just had a megaupload page for the software. Here are some screenshots of the program and an actual website/download location for the software. While there are still some issues with the software I think overall it's pretty cool. Kudos to hersounds at Xtremesystems for this software.

Added screenshots of the 64 bit version on Vista with the benchmark section completed.

This sort of reminds me of AMD Overdrive, but still, very cool. 8)

I don't know why it's called the Overclocking Panel. There is no place to make on-the-fly adjustments. :dunno:

The performance test is the "rating" that Vista/Windows 7 assigns your PC. This app shows you what your PC actually scored in each of the tests that Windows runs.

What OS are you running Dan? I didn't write the software so I can't really help troubleshoot any issue here.

Vista Business 32bit.

There's some error text that looks like a error in the programming code, and an option to send the error data to them. Hopefully with lots of people using it they'll get enough of this data back to help them fix whatever might be wrong.
System.Exception: System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.
at BlackBox.gövde.ram_index_TextChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnTextChanged(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Label.OnTextChanged(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.set_Text(String value)
at System.Windows.Forms.Label.set_Text(String value)
at BlackBox.gövde.bw_yükleme_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)
at BlackBox.gövde.bw_yükleme_RunWorkerCompleted(Object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e)
at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.OnRunWorkerCompleted(RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e)
at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.AsyncOperationCompleted(Object arg)
So doesn't look like anything we can do to change that. I've tried downloading it again and it does the same thing.

Maybe it will get fixed in an update as you mentioned. I noticed that it is reporting the memory usage wrong. It tells me I'm using 10% of my system RAM and Everest and Windows Sidebar are saying 20%. Nonetheless given some time I can see this becoming a nice application.

Have you tried right clicking and running it as an Administrator?

Same still happens.

Post back here if you notice an update for this and I'll try again when it's updated.

That has nothing to do with privileges its a coding error, something is passing a parameter that is too large for the assigned variable type to handle

I wouldn't know I dropped my only programming class in college after two weeks of failing every quiz.

Then I am jealous of you and your patience. I know so little that I had to Google every HTML edit I had to make to the website where I used to work.

The software has been updated to 1.1.6. I can't find a changelog so no specifics, sorry.

Yeah, I saw that. Not sure what's going on. When it opens it shows v1.1 but if I right click and go to properties, details tab, it shows v1.1.7.0. Either way it works fine under 64bit W7.
