Post by Merlin »

Does anyone know of a site , program ,or any other way to find out which are needed and dissable all those #$@%$# background applications that are not. I have ENDITALL installed but I dint know what this stuff is and if I need it or not. With 98SE it was easy keep explorer and systray end all the rest.

there are several ways to do this.

first ctr+r, type msconfig, next unselect select the programs from the startup list that you do not want running.

next go to your control pannel and select administive tools click on services
now go to Black viper's operating sys guide start turning off services :) dont turn just everything off realy take the time to read what he has to say about stability and functionality. I have doen this and run as few as 11-13 services on my computer before.

Third: Spybot and addaware
