HELP!! FIREFOX CRASHES!!!

Post by bigblockmatt »

Howdy everyone. MY firefox (1.5) has now jsut decided to crash on me. i try and open it and it goes straight to the "report error" thing that windows does. I dont remember doing anything before it started doing it. I thought it might have been the new windows update, so i uninstalled it and restarted...didnt solve. I have installed firefox and reinstalled a fresh downloaded copy, still no work. :( any ideas?

Deletion of all registry trees mentioning Mozilla/FireFox may solve the problem.

Clearing the cache and a full (manual) uninstall (delete the folder if it isn't removed) may help.

Hope you backed up your bookmarks (the one thing you don't have to worry about in IE). :P

You have rebooted after uninstalling?
You could try system restore....any updates OS/antivirus might be lost, but can be reinstalled....
If it's enabled.....

Goto start/programs/accessories/system tools/system restore....

thats all well and good but i cannot even open firefox to do that :(

Thanks for the link Kerri, but when i tried to intergrate it with firefox, it would bring up the same report error message thing.

Well... I supose you could just copy the entire %Program Files%\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile folder to another computer and seeing if that works, I think that's where all the settings and bookmarks are stored.

Have you tried starting it up in safe-mode?
"%Program Files%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
