Memory, Mobo - testing and performance software

Post by rocktrout »

Can you provide some suggestions for software to test the performance of the new computer I'm going to build? Can these applications stress the system to verify the integrity and overall stability of the system? I was planning on running Vista 32 as the main OS, but I can install XP if that provides more possibilities.

XP is the easiest.

There is a whole number of things.

For stress testing, people use Intels TAT or Orthos

For benching people use 3dmark 01, 03, 05, 06, PCMark 04, 05, SPI, Hexus PIfast, SiSoft Sandra, Aquamark, and wprime.

Go here, signed up for our benching team, and submit some benchmarks while your at it
