Transfering old software...

Post by Alathald »

K guys, this is probably simple, but I'm not sure how to go about it...I'm setting up a new computer for a friend that has a lot of old programs on their old computer. They have CDs for most of them but not all. Here's my question, how can I get the programs that I don't have CDs for on the new computer? Any help is greatly appreciated...Peace!

Stick a crossover cable between the two, copy everything over, or if there's a router present, just copy everything through that.

Some programs need to be installed because of registry values or dlls, not much you can do about those if you don't have the install files, other than running them, reading the error message, and copying over the missing dll files.

Maybe try and find install files on p2p nets and grab the legal serial numbers from the currently installed programs?
