Firefox 3 Beta 3 is here

Post by w00fd06 »

Alright, the third installment of Firefox 3 is finally here, it was released yesterday, and there are a few new things that have arrived with it, check them out:

http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2008/02/a-de ... -3-beta-3/
according to this, there are plenty of new visual updates, and the new Forward/Back button seems familiar... :-k if someone else knows where this is from, please tell me.

this is Mozilla's version of the above link, so it may seem more like an advertisement than anything. They also seem to talk about many "new" updates to the browser that were new in beta 2.

If anyone's downloaded this yet, go ahead and give your opinion of it.

It seems like beta2 was only just released.

Haven't checked out beta3 yet, but the annoyance I had with beta2 (and it is a feature) was the scrolling tabs at the top. Using "control"+"1" say to go from the last tab to the first one, instead of the instant go to that tab like in FX2, it scrolls through all the open tabs then opens the first tab. A second or two wait that I don't want to have to hang around for (but am forced to). I have too many tabs open granted, but it's the way I roll.

In Beta 3 it's the same as it is in FFox2, but there are some other things I don't particularly like after using it for a bit:
*the home button is now in the bookmarks toolbar
*the new icons are a bit "cartoony"
*browsing history/bookmarks is same as always (not entirely bad, just would like to see some changes to it, not all that efficient)
*why is "Smart Bookmarks" sometimes called "Smart Bookmarks" and sometimes "Places"? just wondering

these "issues" are a matter of preference, but that's just my opinion.

however i do like the new method of bookmarking (the star in the Address Bar)

So question in the non beta version that just updated recently How the hell do I turn off the quick search shortcut that seems to be enabled to the ' button. Some things you can type in with it fine. others it enables it when you want to be using the '. annoys the crap out of me. If I want to search I'll do the logical thing. ctrl+f.

Just installed the beta 3, and moving the home back to where it should be was the first thing I did :P

It was the thing that annoyed me most about IE7 having the icons in the wrong places.

I want my Home button in plain sight.

Only complaint so far, and a couple of my add-ons are broke.
