I can't even get memtest to run. For some reason I cannot get a bootable flash drive to work with my motherboard.

Do you have "Boot to/from another devise" option in your boot menu??

Ya, the system recognized booting from a USB device and I've used it for flashing the bios, etc...

Maybe I'm adding the wrong files to the flash drive. What files are you putting on the flash drive to make it bootable?
