You can hit F3 and do a new scan.
When it's finished scanning it'll show you how many files it found.
Only way I know of.

Open up a command window, switch to the folder that you have your MP3s stored in.

type in DIR /S *.mp3 then hit enter. It will search all folders and their sub folders then give you a file count.

If you would like a text file with all the data that will be scrolling the screen you can export it to a text file like so DIR /S *.mp3 > list.txt it won't scroll the data on the screen it will pause for a sec then go back to the command line. Then you can use explorer to browse to your MP3 folder and find the text file LIST.TXT and open it.

I recently installed VLC media player (free download via majorgeeks.com) and it beats the other DVD players I've tried (Power DVD, Win DVD, the one in Nero 7, etc.) as well as plays most other types of audio and video files too. It would be great at twice the price... ;)

I'll second using the VLC media player! Open Source plays just great! Just switch to skin-2 so it doesn't look like voice-recorder. :)
